    Sex positivity began as a powerful movement, promising freedom, acceptance and liberation from outdated stigmas. Over the past decade, however, something interesting has happened. This once radical idea evolved into a universal hashtag, a badge of honor, and, ironically, another societal expectation. Today, young adults are overwhelmed with messages promoting sexual openness, exploration, and candid discussions about their desires.

    In the hub of CSUN’s ceramics studio, Lucy Kindseth shapes more than just clay. She builds a body of work that explores fragility, permanence and the natural world. A ceramics major with years of hands-on experience, Kindseth approaches her craft with a developing methodology that intertwines technical skills with deeply personal themes. “A lot of the assignments we get are structured to spark ideas,” she explained.

    The CSUN Pride Center presented “Black and Queer: Reclaiming Identity,” a celebration exploring the intersection of Black and LGBTQ+ experiences through the lens of ballroom culture on Feb. 18 at the Northridge Center. House of Labeija’s creative production manager, Calvin Martin, guided attendees through the art of voguing while offering insights into the ballroom’s historical roots and creating an inclusive space for student participation and learning.

    In a Zoom video call, Katherine Lorenz fills the screen alongside her little dog, Kodiak. Her eyes begin to light up as she discusses a topic many would find difficult – sexual violence. For Lorenz, this isn’t just an academic pursuit but has become a calling. Growing up in Michigan, Lorenz’s academic journey began with a simple observation about her family dynamics. Living with several siblings, she noticed differences in freedoms granted to her versus her brothers.
