Dylan Bates stepped into the role of CEO at Salt Dental Partners with a plan to use his experience in the physical therapy field to drive growth for the DSO. And it worked. The Phoenix-based DSO appointed Mr. Bates to his position in 2023. Mr. Bates previously served as CEO and COO of ATI Physical Therapy, where he was credited with helping the physical therapy chain grow to more than 800 locations nationwide. At the time, Salt’s network included more than 50 offices in five states.

Although some dental leaders are wary of how the economy will impact the dental industry, many DSO executives are still holding onto a positive outlook. A Connecticut dentist has agreed to reimburse the state’s Medicaid program $150,000 to resolve allegations that she violated the False Claims Act. Nazneen Jaffri, DDS, previously operated a practice in Norwalk, Conn. From Jan. 1, 2019, through April 24, 2021, Dr. Jaffri allegedly violated the False Claims Act by submitting claims to the Connecticut Medical Assistance Program for services rendered to Medicaid patients who were referred by a third-party patient recruiting company.
