You’re like, ‘Yeah right, Sherine, sure you sleep half the time. This is an exaggeration, isn’t it?’Well yes, but only slightly. Look at this chart from Apple Health showing my sleep duration for the last six months of last year:Hey, at least I get up before 10am. But I also sleep before 10pm sometimes. Hypersomnia is an affliction, and one I’d really like to be rid of, but that would probably mean dying, which is never a good solution. But y’know, it could be worse.

When I was 13, I fell in love with a pair of boots. They were just so beautiful and stylish and shapely, in black leather with high stiletto heels. I’ve scoured Google Images and can’t find the exact pair of boots, of course - these were only available in 1994 - but the photo above is an example of the kind of style I’m talking about. The boots were £25, and I saw them in Dolcis in St Ann’s Shopping Centre, Harrow. I was especially keen on buying them because my first ever concert was coming up.

When I was 16 years old, I had an affair. That makes it sound torrid and sexy, like Jeremy Irons and Juliet Binoche in Damage, when in fact it was anything but. I had just been kicked out of school, and had been dating my boyfriend W for a year and a half. He was gentle and funny and kind, a super-smart straight-A student with blond hair, pale blue eyes and a huge toothy smile. I wrote in my little black pocket diary when we met about how much I looked forward to seeing him and how happy he made me.

In 2002, I came second in a BBC comedy scriptwriting competition. I was only 22 and took the runner-up prize with my very first script - which filled me with horror. I was a fraud! I had no idea how to write a script, and someone was bound to rumble me very, very soon. Then a friend saw an MA in Scriptwriting advertised in the paper. It was at Goldsmiths College, part of the University of London - a prestigious arts college.

'READ MY POETRY!' I don't want to read your poetry, Ari. 'IT'S GOOD!' But I don't like poetry. 'YOU'LL LIKE THIS, IT MADE IT INTO AN ANTHOLOGY.' I probably won't. 'IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, I'LL REFUND YOUR MONEY.' How much does it cost to read? 'IT'S FREE!' https://t.co/pXXNGjaa1o https://t.co/i3GgccQ2CL

Bit of a racy question for an IRS filing service! Boyfriend: 'I guess it's better than "What was the name of the person you first grabbed by the pussy?"' https://t.co/dwXZcXa7iN
