4. DiscussionOral anticoagulation is recommended as the first-line therapy for preventing ischemic stroke in patients with AF and a CHA2DS2-VASc ≥ 1 in males and ≥2 in females [14]. LAAO initially emerged as an alternative therapeutic strategy for patients unable to tolerate anticoagulation or those who preferred to avoid long-term use. It proved its benefits over warfarin in several randomized controlled trials [21,22,23].
