    Donald Trump’s return to the White House marks a historic moment, as he becomes only the second U.S. president after Grover Cleveland to reclaim the presidency after a four-year gap. Cleveland, the Governor of New York, was the first Democrat elected after the Civil War, holding the 22nd presidency (1885-1889) before returning for a second, non-consecutive term as the 24th president (1893-1897). Similarly, Trump served as the 45th president and now takes office as the 47th.

    The 2023 U.S. Open took place a couple of weeks ago from July 11 to July 16 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Some of the world's greatest badminton players flocked to the Midwest to play exhilarating matches over a week. The U.S. Open dates back to 1954 when it was introduced to the badminton world, and this year we were treated to a whopping 58th edition of the tournament.

Notice something about their names? Taking a closer look at their names, it becomes evident that they are all of Asian descent. In American math competitions, Asian Americans dominate the scene, oftentimes making up the top 50 or 60 young math students in the nation, with a few exceptions.

Last year, this team represented the USA at the 2022 BWF World Junior Championships in Spain. The group consisted of the four best male and four best female junior badminton players nationwide. Notice something odd? It might have caught your eye that every member was of Asian descent, particularly of a predominantly Chinese background.
