Introduction Agricultural economics research often provides direct inputs for policymaking. This includes ex-ante and ex-post evaluations of policy measures or entire agricultural policies (e.g. El Benni et al., 2023). Given the potential impact of these activities, the question arises of how valid and reliable the results are but so far there have been almost no attempts to assess the validity and reliability of these research findings.
