But Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), lead sponsor of the bill, will introduce it only after the Senate has passed the friendly crypto bill ― meaning Republicans would have no reason to support it.

Democratic staff led by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) on the House Judiciary Committee tallied up what the pardon recipients still owed the government and their victims. The biggest sums were owed by Trump campaign donors convicted of financial crimes.

Republicans have claimed the CBO gets things wrong and that its cost estimates of GOP tax and spending cuts are biased in favor of Democrats because the budget office is run by Democrats. It’s not. “I am a Republican,” CBO Director Phillip Swagel said on CNBC.
