Qualitative research can provide unique insights which illuminate patient experiences and perceptions of care. However, trauma and orthopaedic specialty journals overwhelmingly favour publishing research using quantitative methods, resulting in a scarcity of qualitative studies. This article presents a bibliographic review demonstrating the absence of qualitative methods within the top 12 rated orthopaedic and trauma journals based on 2023 impact factor and SCImago journal ranking.
