    Far North police, with assistance from the State Emergency Service and community members, are continuing their search for 60-year-old Adam Yunkaporta, who was reported missing on Saturday, February 1. The search recommenced early on February 2, with police and community volunteers conducting foot patrols near the Aurukun boat ramp in both the north and south areas. A Queensland Police spokesman said search efforts continued from 7am until nightfall on Sunday, using drones and helicopters.

    Police have launched a search and rescue operation after a 60-year-old Aurukun man was reported missing. He was reported to police as missing on Saturday, February 1. Initial information indicates the man was last seen leaving his home at around 12pm on Thursday, January 30, and is believed to have gone fishing at the mouth of the Ward, Watson and Archer Rivers. The three rivers meet west of the town of Aurukun, a remote community in Western Cape York.

    The Cassowary Coast Regional Council has issued two emergency alerts for its residents at South Johnstone and at Mourilyan. An emergency alert has been was issued at 5.10am, Saturday, February 1 advising South Johnstone Residents in low lying areas to collect their evacuation kit and move to a safe place on higher ground now. This situation poses a threat to life and property.
