Columbia Bhangra, Columbia University’s competitive bhangra team, hosted its annual Bhangra in the Heights event on March 30 in Roone. But the annual showcase was no longer just a showcase—instead, the event took on the title of the only bhangra competition in New York City. With eight performances, representation from seven regions, and only one first-place winner, BHeights XVII was an evening filled with dance, tradition, and community.

Walls adorned with pictures of Columbia Bhangra and light-up letters spelling out “BHEIGHTS” surrounded the seats of Roone Arledge Auditorium. As the melodies of music rang throughout, the audience’s excited chatter filled the rest of the auditorium. Columbia Bhangra, Columbia University’s competitive bhangra team, hosted its annual Bhangra in the Heights event on March 30 in Roone.

Grab your Trapper Keepers and your Walkmans. It’s time for “Footloose.”The Columbia Musical Theatre Society performed “Footloose” in Roone last Friday and Saturday.
