Former Western Australia premier Colin Barnett has slammed the Prime Minister's treatment of his home state. Speaking to Sky News Australia on Tuesday afternoon, Mr Barnett said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese "treats Western Australia like a token, backward outlet". "I don't really get the guy actually, I know him but not that well, every time he comes over here he announces how many visits he's made," he told Politics Now.

Legislation for the Albanese Government's $7 billion critical minerals production tax credit will be introduced to the parliament next week. The Resources Minister Madeleine King has rejected calls to bring forward the start date of the scheme to help struggling lithium producers. Investment in the sector has already stalled due to low prices but the incentives, which are a crucial plank of the government's 'Future Made in Australia' policy, won't kick in until 2027.
