    BUENA VISTA, Colo. (KOAA) — On Saturday, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) released information about a kayaker who died along the Arkansas River on Friday afternoon. According to CPW, Chaffee County dispatch received calls around 3:15 p.m. of a CPR in progress for two boaters whose kayaks had capsized on the river. Rangers from the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA), Chaffee County EMS, Chaffee County Fire, and the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — Friday afternoon, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a call for a disturbance between a man and a woman on the 4400 block of Hunting Meadows Circle. A man was reported to have assaulted the woman and was also seen damaging an involved car while riding on its hood in traffic on South Chelton Road. The woman was later found and transported to the hospital for injuries she sustained during the incident.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — Evening commuters could see impacts to their drive overnight on Monday, June 9, and Tuesday, June 10. Brookside Street at South Nevada Avenue will be closed from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on both nights. The street will remain open, but drivers won't be allowed to turn between Brookside Street and South Nevada during these times, so drivers should prepare for longer travel times. Closures will allow crews to mill and pave the asphalt.

The 22 semifinalists are representing "22 schools from 17 districts and two charters."CDE says that there were 419 applicants from 106 school districts, which amounted to a 375% increase in applicants from prior years.

    WASHINGTON (KOAA) — In a release from Friday, June 6, Colorado Senator John Hickenlooper demanded that the Trump Administration "fully reinstate all fired employees" at the National Weather Service (NWS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Back in late February, hundreds of employees from both the NWS and NOAA were laid off by the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, to cut federal spending.
