The University of Missouri signed an agreement today to create what they call a roadmap for building a second nuclear reactor — not for power, but to increase its production of cancer-fighting radioactive isotopes. The NextGen MURR (MU Research Reactor) and its support infrastructures comprise of the largest capital investment in the university’s history. President Mun Choi said that investment will pay off.

A nationally- coordinated protest against the recent policies of President Donald Trump took place across the U.S. Saturday, with Missourians weathering all-day rain to join in. “Hands-Off!” protests were staged in towns including O’Fallon, Joplin, Columbia, Camdenton, St. Joseph, Springfield, St. Louis, and Rolla. About 600 gathered on the State Capitol steps in Jefferson City. Thousands filled Country Club Park in Kansas City, as KMBC reports.

Crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation are busy with roadway flooding, mainly in southern counties. Chris Engelbrecht, the director of MoDOT’s Safety & Emergency Management Division says by late Sunday afternoon, approximately 150 roadways were closed. MODOT’s list of state roads closed because of flooding “We’ve seen a lot of impacts, of course, in the West Plains area with US 63, which continues to be closed at this point.

A state Senate bill is moving through the House that would change the process for how amendment questions appear on election ballots. A House committee passed the measure (SB 22) to give the courts less power writing the language that describes a question on the ballot.
