Overview What goes up must come down. The preseason No. 15 Blue Devils displayed a series of solid fall showings before stumbling through their spring slate. Duke cut its postseason run short with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Norman Regional. The Blue Devils performed similarly in the ACC Championship in Greensboro, N.C., where they placed 10th. Like in Norman, Okla., the team got off to a slow start and struggled to build momentum after falling behind the field.

Taking a short trip over to Greensboro, N.C., the Blue Devils finished in 10th place to close out the ACC Championship. Although the team did not reach match play, a few players recorded impressive performances, including freshman Carla De Troia, sophomore Katie Li and junior Andie Smith. Beginning the first round, Smith totaled a score of 2-under 70, accumulating four of her team’s 10 birdies during the entirety of round one.

Over the course of a windy weekend down in Chattanooga, Tenn., one Blue Devil in particular opened the eyes of many. Even while playing on the Honors Course, which is no easy feat, freshman Anna Cañado Espinal made it look effortless as she posted a score of 1-over par throughout the three rounds.
