On January 12, 2024, the New York State Department of Financial Services (“NYDFS”) released a new Industry Letter on the use of self-service password reset (“SSPR”) services, which enable users to reset their own password without the assistance of help desk or IT professionals. The Industry Letter discusses the risks associated with the use of SSPR services – specifically allowing for a password reset with only email address (personal or business), SMS or voice message.

It is essential to my wellbeing to have supportive friends in the workplace. We all need a support network that we can rely on when feeling down. I have always had one supportive colleague I can trust and rely on for support when experiencing symptoms of bipolar or depression. I navigate my mental health in the workplace by finding one person I can confide in. I set up one hour per week where we can talk openly about workplace stressors and my mental health.

The New York Department of Financial Services (“NY DFS”) published an updated proposed Second Amendment to its Cybersecurity Regulation (23 NYCRR Part 500) in the New York State Register on June 28, 2023, updating its previous proposed Second Amendment, which was published November 9, 2022. While the language proposed is largely similar to the previous draft, which we previously summarized, NY DFS incorporated a number of changes as a result of the 60-day comment period.

This is a lot of time spent working, so it's important that those hours are supportive of each employee's wellbeing. I have had some bad experiences with prior workplaces and also some exceptional experiences. People with bipolar disorder are brilliant, hard-working, passionate employees, and with a little extra help and accommodation, they can be very successful.
