SQUIRREL_13211287The Sweet Protection Fluxer MIPS is the Norwegian brand’s dedicated lightweight road helmet. Although it's not the lightest, it does everything a well-ventilated helmet should, and it undercuts many rivals on price, at £179 / $200 / €199. It also gives a sense that there's plenty of protection – not always a given when it comes to lightweight lids – which somewhat offsets the slight weight penalty versus key rivals.

SQUIRREL_13211957The Maap Team Bib Evos are race-worthy bib shorts that impressed me in testing. While the slightly seam-heavy aesthetic might not appeal to some, it delivers on performance with good compression and a particularly supportive-feeling chamois. The nine colours on offer also offer a deeper element of outfit customisation. Maap's bib shorts will set you back £225 / $295 / €250. The Maap Team Bib Evo bib shorts feature a long leg design, with a deep hem section at the bottom of the leg.

SQUIRREL_13211772The Castelli Free Aero Race S Bibshorts are pro-level performers that undercut many of their rivals on price. The bib shorts pack in Castelli’s flagship chamois pad, with a nod to aerodynamic performance that some may find appealing. They also feel very well ventilated, although the lightweight design isn’t without a drawback or two. The Castelli Free Aero Race S Bibshorts are said to be the most comfortable iteration of the brand's racing-focused shorts yet.

Pirelli has launched the Cinturato Evo TLR, a new all-season, all-road tyre available in 45, 50 and enormous 55mm sizes. With more regular widths (28, 30, 32, 35 and 40mm) also available, the Cinturato Evo TLR is arguably the most all-encompassing road bike tyre ever put on sale. Pirelli says you’ll be able to buy the three largest sizes in the summer, but the smaller sizes are available from today. These cost £74.99 / $92.90 / €79.90 in all sizes and sidewall variants.

It’s been a hot time for new bike computer launches lately, but we’re still awaiting new Garmin Edge 850 and 550 models – the GPS giant’s smaller-sized computers would replace the Edge 840 and 540. First came the Garmin Edge 1050 in summer 2024, followed by Wahoo’s latest flagship unit, the Elemnt Ace, in December 2024.
