A bird’s eye view of Jayteen’s Park has highlighted the scale of restoration efforts currently underway along Bargara’s coast, with more than 7,400 cubic metres of sand being placed on the adjacent beach to help stabilise the shoreline. The aerial images have captured the sand nourishment project in action, which began in May and is expected to be complete in July.

The transformation of an iconic Bundaberg building has earned national recognition, with local architect Tomas O’Malley and his team celebrated for their work on Bundaberg Regional Council’s Wintergarden Hub redevelopment. Originally opened in 1929 as a theatre, the historic building has served various roles over the decades. Most recently, Bundaberg Regional Council commissioned Tomas and his team to reimagine the nearly 100-year-old structure as a dynamic, multipurpose community space.

Bundaberg Regional Council is continuing its commitment to local jobs and sustainability by teaming up with IMPACT Community Services to keep the region’s recycling facility running for up to another 10 years. This commitment has paved the way to negotiate new commercial terms with IMPACT Community Services to manage the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) on University Drive for an initial five-year term, with an option to extend for a further five years to 2035.

After nearly five decades of dedicated service, Amber Larsen – a familiar and friendly face at the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre – is retiring. The Neighbourhood and Service Centre Support Officer said her passion for community service had been the driving force behind her many roles at Council over the years. Amber began her career in January 1977, fresh out of school and stepping into her first role as a junior Clerical Officer with the Kolan Shire Council.
