MONTAGUE, Mass. (WWLP) – An officer for the Montague Police Department was arrested, the chief confirms. 22News contacted Montague Police Chief Christopher Williams and the spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office after reports of an officer being arrested. Chief Williams told 22News that they are aware of the incident involving Officer Shawna Williams and are “handling it as a personnel matter.” Chief Williams did not provide any other information at this time.

BOSTON (WWLP) – A man who is awaiting trial on murder charges was sentenced to prison on another case for distributing fentanyl. In a news release sent to 22News from the Department of Justice, 36-year-old Csean Skerritt was caught selling approximately 52.3 grams of fentanyl in exchange for $1,500 in February 2023. He pleaded guilty to distribution of 40 grams or more of fentanyl and was sentenced on Monday to 68 months in federal prison, followed by four years of supervised release.

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Country music star Cole Swindell is coming to The Big E to perform during the opening weekend of the fair. The Big E announced on Tuesday that Cole Swindell is taking his “Happy Hour Sad Tour” cross-country to The Big E Arena in West Springfield. Cole is from Georgia and started his songwriting career in 2010 before releasing his first single, “Chillin’ It,” in 2013.

GRANVILLE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Granville Fire Department was called to two motor vehicle crashes on Sunday, highlighting the importance of mutual aid from surrounding agencies. In the first incident, a vehicle rolled over on Old Westfield Road, where a passerby was able to remove the driver and provide medical aid before first responders arrived. A landing zone was set up at the Parish Water Treatment Plant in Westfield for a Life Star helicopter.
