If an author wants to hook me for life, setting it during World War I, between the wars, or in the midst of World War II will do the trick. This week’s books fit the bill. The third book in the “Phyllida Bright Mystery” series is every bit as good as its predecessors, and I’m eagerly awaiting the fourth due out in October.

    Eating, talking, texting and reaching for items in a moving vehicle are among the top actions that motorists might make while driving. These actions distract motorists from their most important task: safely operating a motor vehicle. “According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), distracted driving killed 3,522 people in 2021 making it one of the top behaviors responsible for most crashes,” said PennDOT District 9 safety press officer Monica Owens.
