A group of local youth learned about the importance of de-escalation and personal safety during an engaging workshop in South Richmond Hill. Teenagers from Queens and Brooklyn who are members of the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Queens, located at 110-04 Atlantic Ave., attended a workshop led by the Carol Maraj Foundation on Friday, May 30. Maraj, mother of Queens’ own iconic female rapper Nicki Minaj, and CEO of the Carol Maraj Foundation, held the event to celebrate the launch of her program.

An event for comic book lovers and collectible enthusiasts of all ages is returning to Far Rockaway. The eighth Queens Culture Clash will be held on Sunday, June 8 at the Knights of Columbus building located at 333 Beach 90th St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.Admission to the event is free, but Culture Clash organizer and founder Robert “Bob” Groff is encouraging attendees to purchase 50/50 raffle tickets. All proceeds will be donated to Rockaway Beach Autism Families.
