The 27th RiverRun International Film Festival starts today, Friday April 11 and will go through April 19 with 175 screenings in Winston-Salem and Greensboro. The mission of RiverRun, according to its website is to foster a greater appreciation of cinema and a deeper understanding of the many people, cultures and perspectives of our world through regular interaction with great films and filmmakers.

The last day of school for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is Tuesday, May 20. The school district’s Summer Enrichment Camp filled up as soon as it was posted. This year with the revised calendar, school is getting out much earlier than last year and parents may be scrambling to find care. A spokesperson with WSFCS stated, “Last year we had added one extra class and hosted two enrichment classes.

Families are invited to attend the 4th annual Touch-A-Truck & more event hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Kernersville Saturday, March 29 from 10am-3pm. Organizers said this year will be the biggest one yet with over 40 vehicles of all types available for kids to get up close and personal with. Due to the larger turnout, there is a new location for the event at the Swisher Center on Forsyth Technical Community College's Kernersville campus.

A 13-year-old girl is one of 11,000 youth living in foster care in North Carolina. Children’s Home Society of North Carolina is working to recruit a family to adopt Billie. She said she is eager to meet her forever family and describes herself as sweet, caring and funny. Billie met WXII 12’s Audrey Biesk for a surprise day at Woodleaf Lanes Bowling Alley in Salisbury for Billie’s first time bowling. “I know it was crazy, I got a 90,” she exclaimed.
