    A teen boy living in foster care calls himself a kind-hearted gentle giant. 17 year old, Patrick lives in a group home right now and is in need of a family to support him and his future endeavors.Patrick is on his way becoming a full time firefighter. He is currently a junior firefighter in his home town and Children's Home Society of North Carolina planned a special day for him at the Millers Ferry Fire Department in Salisbury with WXII 12’s Audrey Biesk.

    There is a bipartisan effort to reform the foster care system in North Carolina. House lawmakers unanimously approved House Bill 612 or the "Fostering Care in NC Act" and is now headed to the Senate. It would give the state more oversight of county social services departments with a goal of improving child safety and well-being. “Recent history especially has shown there is a need for this reform," said Republican Representative Allen Chesser who is one of the bill's primary sponsors.

    A 15-year-old girl who has lived in foster care the majority of her life has hope that there is an adoptive family out there made just for her. Ellie said she remains resilient and dreams of sharing her joyful personality with her adoptive family. The teen loves to volunteer and care for horses, so her team at Children's Home Society of North Carolina planned a special day for her at a boutique barn in northern Greensboro, Landon Farm.
