1 Introduction In the early 2000s, the Institute of Medicine highlighted the devastating consequences of medical errors and called for patient-centred clinical decision-making based on evidence and much more developed collaboration between healthcare professionals and institutions to deliver quality care (Medicine 2001). The International Council of Nurses (ICN), took a stand for evidence-based nursing practice as early as 2013 (CII 2013).
