    On Monday a fire crew was attacked twice in one night in Ardrossan, North Ayrshire, after being called out to attend a bonfire. A band of youths pelted the fire appliances with eggs, stones and bricks - forcing them to retreat until the police arrived and allowed them to put the fire out. Local crew commander Steven Gibson has been stationed in the area for 17 years, he told BBC Scotland News that the attacks are nothing new.

    Kerry Charles was driving on a dark, deserted road on Skye in terrible weather when she saw what she thought was an enormous black wolf. Wolves have been extinct in Scotland since the 18th century so Kerry knew it was probably not real. It could have been her brain interpreting a figure from the rocky and rugged scenery in poor light conditions, she said. "That made me think: 'I haven't seen something that isn't there before'," Kerry added.
