The Las Vegas Raiders made a short-term commitment to quarterback Geno Smith this offseason. While he's locked in for the 2025 season, the team could feasibly get off his contract next year and easily move on from him in 2027. If he plays at a high level, the Raiders could keep him for the foreseeable future, but it doesn't appear they're certain he's the quarterback they want long term. That's proven by the fact that the Raiders have done a ton of work on quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft class.

The Las Vegas Raiders‘ quarterback room has been a mess the last two seasons. Aidan O’Connell wasn’t the Week 1 starter in either season, but he was the Week 18 starter for each. However, new Raiders head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek clearly didn’t see him as a starting quarterback. The team tried to trade for Matthew Stafford, but eventually landed on Geno Smith. He’ll be the starting quarterback in 2025 and possibly beyond after signing a contract extension with the team.

He spent two years with the program and played in 16 games. However, he clearly wants a fresh start and is going to explore his options.

The Los Angeles Lakers are about to embark on a title run, but general manager Rob Pelinka can start looking to the offseason. The team now has a young superstar to build around in Luka Doncic, but once LeBron James retires, they need to surround him with more talent. Doncic does really good work with athletic bigs. Pelinka tried and failed to get him one when the Lakers traded for Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams. However, that deal fell through due to a failed physical.
