Ex-Raiders HC Jon Gruden Reacts to Damon Arnette News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After a successful workout, the Houston Texans are reportedly working on signing former Las Vegas Raiders first-round pick Damon Arnette. The former Ohio State standout has spent this year playing for the Houston Roughnecks of the UFL, and his play has been good enough for an NFL team to give him a shot.

There aren’t many teams in the NFL that have had more failed first-round picks in the 2000s than the Las Vegas Raiders. The drafting under head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock was particularly bad. One of the most questionable picks they made was selecting cornerback Damon Arnette in the first round of the 2020 draft. He was widely considered a second or third-round talent, but Mayock was very high on him.

Former Raiders First-Round Pick Signing With AFC Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's been a long road for former Las Vegas Raiders first-round pick Damon Arnette. He was a good player in college, but nobody thought he was a first-round pick except former general manager Mike Mayock. AdvertisementIt turns out that the majority was correct in this situation, as Arnette didn't even play two full seasons in Las Vegas before getting released.

LeBron James not only has a historic career in the NBA, but he’s also a decorated Olympian. Over the course of his basketball career, he has won three gold medals representing Team USA. The only men’s player with more is Kevin Durant, who has four. There’s been a lot of speculation regarding whether or not James is going to retire from basketball this offseason. It looks like there’s a good chance that he’ll be back with the Los Angeles Lakers, but fans of the Olympics are going to be disappointed.

Cam Ward has had a meteoric rise from a zero-star recruit to becoming the starting quarterback for one of college football's premier programs. He outperformed expectations so much that he became the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Using the top pick to add a quarterback is a major decision. A team is investing a lot in somebody who not only needs to be a great player, but also somebody who can be the face of a multi-billion-dollar franchise.

A bit of news for everyone. I am now writing for Athlon Sports on the Tennessee Titans! Here is my first article! #TitanUp #NFL https://t.co/0LH22FgCJE

EXCLUSIVE: I had a chance to speak with Ashton Jeanty before the draft, and now I got to follow up with him now that he plays for the Raiders. More to come, but he gave me his early impressions of Geno Smith. https://t.co/R0zYxU8Sg1

Most underrated writer covering the Raiders. Give a read to his latest piece about Raiders UDFA Jah Joyner.

I recently had the opportunity to speak with Las Vegas Raiders DE Jah Joyner before rookie minicamp. We talked about his journey to the NFL, the lessons he learned along the way and three big reasons he is excited to be in Las Vegas. https://t.co/Y0T8JIEeoO
