Orlando City SC got its 2025 U.S. Open Cup run off to a hot start as the Lions trounced their cross-state rivals, the Tampa Bay Rowdies, for the eighth straight time across all competitions and the largest margin of victory ever between the two teams. 2. It was a bit of a slow start for the Lions for the first 30 minutes, with both sides combining for only one shot. After a water break in the 30th minute, Orlando started to get going offensively.

1. A slow start turned into a fast finish as Orlando City SC put three goals past Brad Guzan and Atlanta United to return to winning ways. 2. The first 40 minutes was, for all intents and purposes, dull. The Lions held possession, but couldn't really create any chances going forward. It was a lot of slow, methodical play from Orlando, with Atlanta looking to bunker and counter off turnovers. 3. Just before halftime, the Lions were able to finally break the deadlock through Luis Muriel.
