PEORIA (25News Now) -The extreme heat wave continues today across the area. Yesterday we hit highs of 95 degrees and the peak heat index value was 106 here in Peoria and across the area many of us were hitting 104 and 105 degrees. Unfortunately the forecast remains the same today through Wednesday. There wasn’t much cooling to be had overnight as we saw heat index values hitting 80 degrees as early as 6:00 AM today.

PEORIA (25News Now) -A heat wave begins today with highs jumping up into the mid 90s. While mid 90s are hot on their own, we still have a lot of humidity and the humidity will be nearly oppressive. When the humidity and heat combine, the heat index will be over 100 degrees with local heat index values possibly getting near 110. With this heat we also won’t see much of a break in the evenings as well. Heat index values overnight will stay in the 80s with muggy conditions.

PEORIA (25News Now) -A heat wave is moving into the area starting tomorrow with highs jumping into the mid 90s across the area until Wednesday of next week. Combine the heat with the humidity that’s stuck around for quite some time and the heat index will climb over 100 degrees. Heat index values over 100 are dangerous if you don’t take steps to stay cool. The best way to stay cool over the next few days is to stay inside as much as possible. While it may not be the most fun, it’s the safest option.

PEORIA (25News Now) -After a round of dangerous weather yesterday, we’re seeing a different type of dangerous weather on the way this weekend. Summer has arrived and with it, the heat is moving in with mid 90s and heat indexes of 100+ degrees. Temperatures this hot can lead to heat related illness and more. This heat is forecast to last through next week until Wednesday at least. If you can, limit time outdoors and stay inside.

PEORIA (25News Now) -If you’re planning anything today, it’s going to be a good day outside with a few things to keep in mind. Temperature wise we’ll be in the mid to lower 80s and there’s a bit of humidity still hanging around. Not enough to be oppressive but enough to feel and be a bit uncomfortable at times.
