    INDIANAPOLIS - Crews rescued a kayaker who was stranded in the White River of the south side of Indianapolis Sunday night. In a Facebook post, IFD indicated that one of its water rescue teams was dispatched to a portion of the White River located near the intersection of Sandhurst Drive and Newhart Street around 9:48 p.m. Soon after they arrived at the scene, crews rescued a woman who had been clinging to a tree branch for more than half an hour.     INDIANAPOLIS - Three people were injured in a shooting that unfolded near Monument Circle early Monday morning. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of South Meridian and West Washington Streets around 1:44 a.m. to investigate a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they located three victims with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. IMPD has confirmed that all three of the victims are currently in stable condition.

    INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Pacers' NBA title bid fell short on Sunday. The Pacers lost Game 7 of the NBA Finals to the Oklahoma City Thunder, 103-91. With the win, the Thunder franchise secured its first NBA championship since it moved from Seattle to Oklahoma City in 2008. Prior to this season, Indiana had not appeared in the NBA Finals since 2000. The Pacers have never won the NBA Finals, though Indiana did win ABA Championships in 1972 and 1973.

    OKLAHOMA CITY - Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton exited Game 7 of the NBA Finals with an apparent leg injury on Sunday. Haliburton was seen walking off the floor with assistance from the Pacers' staff after suffering the injury during the first quarter. In a post on X, the Pacers confirmed that that Haliburton will not return to the game with a leg injury. Haliburton had scored nine points in seven minutes of action before he left the game.

Competitive eater and Westfield native Joey Chestnut won the 2024 St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail Eating Contest in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon. Chestnut ate a record 21 pounds of shrimp during the contest. Before Saturday, Chestnut hadn't won the event since 2021.
