    Nebraska softball will have a two-time state Gatorade Player of the Year joining the program later this year. Alexis Jensen, a left-handed pitcher from Gretna High School, was named Nebraska's Gatorade Player of the Year in softball on Monday. Jensen led the Dragons to a 38-0 season in 2024, winning 20 games with 0.29 ERA. Jensen led Gretna to a 32-4 record and a Class A semifinal finish in 2023, finishing her junior season with a 24-3 record in the circle.

    Dylan Raiola and Trae Taylor were not the biggest quarterback names on the campus in Lincoln on Friday. Nebraska football celebrated its "Battle of the Boneyard" on Friday, inviting numerous 7-on-7 teams from across the country to compete at Memorial Stadium. Included in the competitions were 2026 Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor, who announced he was going to participate in the competition late Thursday night.

    A former Husker football defensive lineman will continue his NFL career back where his professional football journey began. Ben Stille, an Ashland, Neb. native and Nebraska Cornhusker defensive lineman from 2016 through 2021, signed a one year deal with the Miami Dolphins Wednesday night. The deal was processed by the Dolphins Thursday, returning Stille back to his original NFL team after Miami signed the undrafted free agent in 2022.

    Nebraska baseball will wait another season before adding a Gatorade player of the year to its roster for the spring of 2027. Brody Jindra, a junior shortstop at Elkhorn South High School and Husker baseball commit, was named the 2025 Gatorade player of the year for the state of Nebraska. Jindra finished his junior season batting .419 with 19 RBI, 36 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases.

    For the first time since 2002, a Nebraska football tight end has been selected in the National Football League draft. Thomas Fidone II, a 6-6, 255-pound tight end, was picked by the New York Giants as the No. 219 pick in the seventh round on day three of the NFL draft Saturday. Fidone becomes the 370th Cornhusker selected in the NFL draft dating back to 1936.
