The reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers avoided the dreaded 0-3 series hole on the strength of an overtime goal Friday night to climb back into their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Brad Marchand scored off of a deflected shot in overtime to give the host Panthers the improbable 5-4 victory. The Maple Leafs were up 2-0 after the first period, which has been as close to clinching a win as it gets in the NHL this season.

Two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson has officially taken his talents to the small screen. Jackson made his acting debut in a recent episode of "Power Book III: Raising Kanan" on Starz. The episode featuring Jackson aired on May 9, and he played a character named E-Tone, who was working for Unique, played by Joey Bada$$. Jackson didn't just say a couple lines and disappear either. In one scene, Jackson's E-Tone murders another character in the bathroom of a club.

Seventeen seconds before Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl won Game 2 for the Edmonton Oilers in overtime, Viktor Arvidsson tripped Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb headfirst into the end boards. Play was stopped with McNabb injured, but no penalty was called. When play resumed, McDavid worked his magic with a beautiful setup for Draisaitl, who scored to give Edmonton a 5-4 win.

The second round of the 2025 NHL playoffs rolled along on Thursday night with a pair of Game 2s. In the first, the Washington Capitals notched a 3-1 win to even their series with the Carolina Hurricanes, and then the Edmonton Oilers won an overtime thriller in Vegas. After getting dominated in the territorial battle in Game 1, the Capitals flipped the script and took the fight to the Hurricanes for much of Game 2. As one might expect, Tom Wilson was right in the middle of everything.
