The Florida Gators are coming off the best season of the Billy Napier Era so far. They finished the season 8-5 and won the Gasparilla Bowl against the Tulane Green Wave, 33-8. A massive reason why they were successful was the fact that they were able to keep their quarterbacks upright. The Gators’ quarterbacks were only sacked a combined 20 times (13 for D.J. Lagway, four for Graham Mertz and three for Aidan Warner). AP All-American Center Jake Slaughter was pivotal to that success.

One of three Auburn Tigers that was selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith is fighting to become a consistent face in the Los Angeles Chargers receiver rotation after being taken in the Fifth Round. The Chargers are very much in need of a second star receiver for starting quarterback Justin Herbert. The Chargers only really have Ladd McConkey for Herbert at this current moment in time.

Shortly after putting out their 2026 NFL Draft Big Board, Pro Football Focus has already put out a mock draft for the 2026 NFL Draft that features two Auburn Tigers, one on offense and one on defense. Wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. and defensive lineman Keldric Faulk were listed on PFF's way-too-early mock draft. In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Tigers had to wait until the fourth round to hear one of their players’ names called with running back Jarquez Hunter.

The 2025 NBA Draft Combine is less than a week away officially starting on May 11 and will end on May 18. For the Florida Gators, they will have three players at the combine with Walter Clayton Jr., Alex Condon and Alijah Martin. While Clayton Jr. could be anywhere from a late lottery pick to late-first rounder, Alex Condon is currently projected by Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor to be a early second round pick to the San Antonio Spurs.

After coming up short in the Final Four against the eventual National Champion Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers freshman guard Tahaad Pettiford declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. However, Pettiford didn’t hire an agent, which means he will be eligible to return to the Plains should he decide by May 28 to withdraw from the draft. According to 247Sports, Pettiford has been open about his process, and what he will need to decide on for returning to Auburn or not.

The Auburn Tigers finished 2024 with a 5-7 record. Part of that may have come from Auburn being considered one of the more unlucky teams, per ESPN. The Tigers were 1-3 in the one-score games in 2024. However, if you ask second-year defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin, the Tigers need to build on their consistency. “We need to grow now, take the next step of just [having] consistency,” Durkin said. “For us, there were definitely a lot of bright spots. There were some times we needed to play better.

The Auburn Tigers will have to turn to a new running back for the first time in three seasons. For Damari Alston, it is finally his time to shine. It will be the first time in his career that he will be the feature back for the Auburn Tigers. He took over for Jarquez Hunter after he went to the draft. As a freshman, he was the backup running back for Tank Bigsby. Bigsby would go on to the NFL and has been playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars in his first two seasons.

The Auburn Tigers finished with their 2025 recruiting and their 2025 transfer classes ranked in the top 10 out of all of the FBS programs (which has 134 football teams currently in it). Both of their classes ranked seventh in each rank. A highlight of the Auburn transfer portal was former Maryland transfer linebacker Caleb Wheatland, whom defensive coordinator D.J.
