    EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Melinda French Gates, the ex-wife of programmer Bill Gates, has announced her resignation from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation effective June 7. She now plans to donate large amounts of money to different women's causes -- including women's mental health. In an op-ed written for the New York Times, French Gates said that her focus in the past has mostly been on areas outside the United States.

    EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- After 11 days of continual flames, the Blue 2 Fire has reached over 6,800 acres, according to the official Blue 2 Fire page of the Village of Ruidoso. As of 7:30 a.m. on Memorial Day, containment remains at 0%t. Officials say 532 people are working on the fire today. Air resources are very active on the fire -- videos of an air tankers dropping fire retardant on the northwest portion of the fire surfaced yesterday. Officials plan to use more air resources today.

    EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Mental health support can be difficult to find at times -- that's why NAMI El Paso is offering trainings and support for the community in multiple languages. The session program is called "NAMI Bases y Fundamentos," and is free. It's designed for parents and caregivers of children and adolescents with mental, emotional and behavioral difficulties. The point is to help parents and friends understand the difficulties and the importance of family support in treatment.
