Miss Goldsboro 2025 Summer Carson and Miss Goldsboro Teen 2025 Olivia Lancaster head to High Point next week to compete for the state crown. They will first participate in preliminary rounds of competition that lead up to the finals of the Miss North Carolina pageant on June 28. “I can’t wait to able to share my story and, hopefully, take the crown home to Goldsboro,” Carson said. Carson, from Clayton, has competed in the Miss North Carolina pageant before.

Wayne County Post 11 and the Garner Nationals renewed their rivalry on the baseball diamond. Post 11 got strong performances on the mound from Ayden West and Landon Neal, along with some timely hits to defeat Garner 7-4 Tuesday evening at the Carolina Athletic Park. “I’m very proud of them. Wayne County Post 11 pitchers Jack Cunningham, Blake Easom, and Brayden McKee combined to throw a one-hitter as Post 11 defeated Raleigh Post 157 Thursday evening 11-1. Post 11 also defeated Raleigh 8-4 on Wednesday, sweeping the season series. After Cunningham shut down Post 157 in the top of the first inning, Wayne County’s offense got rolling in the bottom half of the inning. Thanks to a Post 157 error, Lawson Tyndall was able to safely reach first.

The Goldsboro Fire Department welcomed its newest arrival Wednesday afternoon — a state-of-the-art fire truck. Engine No. 5 was inducted into service with a traditional push-in ceremony at Goldsboro Fire Department Station 5, at 3521 Central Heights Road. “Today a good day for the Goldsboro Fire Department,” said Brandon Holland, GFD assistant chief.
