    Wayne County Post 11 pitchers Jack Cunningham, Blake Easom, and Brayden McKee combined to throw a one-hitter as Post 11 defeated Raleigh Post 157 Thursday evening 11-1. Post 11 also defeated Raleigh 8-4 on Wednesday, sweeping the season series. After Cunningham shut down Post 157 in the top of the first inning, Wayne County’s offense got rolling in the bottom half of the inning. Thanks to a Post 157 error, Lawson Tyndall was able to safely reach first.

    The Goldsboro Fire Department welcomed its newest arrival Wednesday afternoon — a state-of-the-art fire truck. Engine No. 5 was inducted into service with a traditional push-in ceremony at Goldsboro Fire Department Station 5, at 3521 Central Heights Road. “Today a good day for the Goldsboro Fire Department,” said Brandon Holland, GFD assistant chief.
