MAKHANDA, EASTERN CAPE - Basic Education Minister, Siviwe Gwarube, has called for the mandatory screening of all school staff against the sexual offenders register. This follows the rape of 7-year-old Cwecwe in the Eastern Cape. Gwarube delivered the keynote address at the Uyinene Mrwetyana commemorative lecture in Makhanda, honouring the 24-year-old who was raped and murdered in Claremont, Cape Town, in 2019.

JOHANNESBURG - Embattled SAFA president Danny Jordaan, along with his co-accused, are back at the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court this morning. Jordaan, SAFA’s Chief of Finance Gronie Hluyo, and businessman Trevor Neethling, are out on R20,000 bail each. READ: Danny Jordaan case postponedProceedings were postponed in their previous appearance in December. This time the court is expected to decide whether the case will proceed to trial.
