Listen, follow, rate, & review, wherever you get your podcasts. xoBig day, y’all. Today is publication day for our favorite climate scientist. Dr. Kate Marvelwrote a book called Human Nature: Nine Ways to Feel About Our Changing Planet. Head to your local bookstore and find it on the shelves — hot off the presses! (Support your local bookstores not the big baddies, obvi.)If you don’t know Kate, well, she’s the best. She started out as an astrophysicist.

Hey Everyone. I just wrote to you yesterday, but this is very important:This weekend we protest against the Trump administration and for democracy and decency (and good climate policy!). Massive turnout is critical. We must eclispe Trump’s egomaniacal, dictatorial, waste of taxpayer money, birthday military tanks parade in DC. This episode was recorded live at the WBUR Festival, which celebrated the Boston public radio station’s 75th anniversary. 🥳 Speakers included Roxanne Gay, Ira Glass, and mayor Michelle Wu, but the headliner for all the climate nerds was Gina McCarthy. For all 8 years of the Obama administration, Gina was a leading figure at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). First as head of the Office of Air (remember when people in charge over there cared about clean air? 🫤), then as head of the agency.

Today’s episode is a very sweetreunion with my former podcast co-host Alex Blumberg. Alex and I co-created How to Save a Planet, which ran for 2 years as Spotify’s flagship climate show. This episode opens with the hilariously unlikely origin story of our fab collab. Teeny request: When you hit play, also hit follow :)Podcast nerds will be familiar with Alex’s work, but for the rest: Alex was a longtime producer at This American Life, one of the biggest radio/podcast shows of all-time.

In the spirit of graduation season, sharing the commencement speech I gave at Middlebury College in 2023. It’s a message I stand by 2 years later. Go where there is need and where your heart can find a home. Be tenacious on behalf of life on Earth. https://t.co/vKwIXiPzDh https://t.co/fRNLKnVo1O
