The closed-door meeting comes just twenty-four hours after the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, held a chat with newsmen on Monday in Abuja, accusing Fubara of making himself a “tool” for those who wanted to fight him but could not do so directly. “He (Fubara) gave himself as a tool for those who could not fight me directly.

By Ayo KehindeOperatives of the Kano Command of the Nigeria Police have arrested 18-year-old Saudat Jibril, accused of killing her husband, 30-year-old Salisu Idris, barely nine days after their wedding in the Farawa community of the state. A statement by the Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the suspect “allegedly cut off the throat of her husband, with a sharp knife”.

The head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State, Pope Francis, has died, the Vatican announced on Monday. The 88-year-old Argentine was discharged from Rome’s Gemelli hospital on March 23, after a five-week, life-threatening bout of double pneumonia. Last week Thursday, the pontiff made an unannounced visit to St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican dressed in black pants rather than his usual, traditional white papal attire.

By Ayo KehindeVice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas has approved the appointments of Administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State. A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, said the administrator also approved the reconstitution of some earlier suspended Boards of Agencies, Commissions, and Parastatals. Worika said all the appointments take effect from Monday, the 7th of April 2025.

By Ayo KehindeThe Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has affirmed the victory of Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 21, 2024 gubernatorial election. A three-member panel of the tribunal, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, dismissed the three petitions, including that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, the Accord Party and the Action Alliance (AA), for lacking merit.
