Over the years, while Google's Pixel smartphones have arguably been getting better, there's one aspect in which the company has been getting worse, and that's in keeping details of their devices under wraps prior to launch. There's no company that doesn't get hit by leaks to some extent, but Google is definitely one of the worst in that regard. OnePlus has come a long way in the smartphone game. Its first device, the OnePlus One, was launched in 2014. In over 10 years in the market, the only device that it released that could be considered compact was the OnePlus X in 2015, but even then, it had a 5-inch display, and a “real” compact like Sony's Xperia Z5 Compact was still at 4.6 inches. This year, it seems OnePlus is ready to release a true compact phone, at least in line with what other manufacturers deem to be compact in 2025.
