Despite losing the first two sets, he registered a 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (10-2) victory in what became the French Open’s longest final, stretching to five hours, 30 minutes. It replaced Mats Wilander and Guillermo Vilas’1982 title clash, which extended to four hours, 42 minutes on top of the list.

Stefanos Tsitsipas crashed out of the 2025 Roland-Garros Wednesday. The No 20 seed suffered an upset at the hands of world No 167 Matteo Gigante in the second round, losing 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. Tsitsipas has certainly seen better days at the Paris Major as the loss marked his earliest exit from the tournament since 2018 (second round then as well). Also, once ranked as high as world No 3, he finds himself in the 20s (ranking) for the first time after August 2018.

Casper Ruud‘s 2025 Roland-Garros journey ended Wednesday with a dramatic loss and a lengthy press conference, where he called out ATP’s ranking points and mandatory tournaments system. Ruud beat Spain’s Albert Ramos Vinolas in straight sets on Monday to open his campaign and cruised through the first set against Portuguese Nuno Borges in the second round. But it soon emerged he was playing with an injured left knee as Borges shifted gears.
