Bartender Cullin Johns mixed up the “Red Skies at Night” cocktail. It’s a rum-based cocktail with grapefruit flavors. The Bridge is attached to Hoops Brewing in Canal Park.

Bishop Daniel Felton walks the Lift through the Conclave processBishop Daniel Felton of the Diocese of Duluth reflected on Pope Francis’ legacy and outlined what to expect from the conclave that begins Wednesday, May 7. His South American heritage will be part of that legacy. “He was from Argentina. Brought kind of the South American experience into the Catholic church. Catholic means universal, so that was appropriate,” Bishop Felton said. The late pope was also deeply committed to mercy.
Celebrate United Protestant Church's spot on the National Register

In early 2025, United Protestant Church in the Morgan Park neighborhood of Duluth was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1921, as US Steel was creating its “model town.”“When US Steel built the town and was building the homes, they built the Catholic church, which was on the other end of town,” UPC Pastor Mitch Nelson said.

Jared Trimbo combined his passion for sailing with a love for coffee when he launched a small roastery called Full Keel Coffee. But having a small business hasn’t always been a dream. “I was working for another roastery that ended up going on a business and I loved that job more than any other job I’d ever had,” Trimbo said. When they went under, he bought a home roaster and gave beans to friends and family. Demand got high enough that he saw a business opportunity.
AdventureUs evolved from community needs

AdventureUs, a small business in Washburn, Wis., evolved by hearing and meeting community needs. Amy Trimbo says it all started with Snow Sleeves, stretchy sleeves that can go over a pair of gloves or mittens and on top of the arms of a jacket to prevent snow from chafing the wrists. Snow Sleeves are sold in the AdventureUs gift shop on Bayfield Street in Washburn. Below the gift shop is the sewing studio where Trimbo and others manufacture, repair clothes, and do contract work.
New novel 'A Lesser Light' set on Lake Superior's shore

Peter Geye’s newest novel, “A Lesser Light,” is set on the shores of Lake Superior. It takes readers back to 1910 and the story of a lighthouse keeper and his wife. Geye will have a “Talking Volumes” conversation with MPR’s Kerri Miller at 7 p.m. Thursday at the College of St. Scholastica’s Mitchell Auditorium. He’ll also hold an event at 6 p.m. July 12 at Drury Lane Books in Grand Marais. Learn more about the events and order a copy of the book on Geye’s website.

Runa Yoga opens Superior studio

Runa Yoga is offering stretching, sculpt, and savasana at a new studio in Superior. It’s on the 1400 block of Tower Avenue, next door to the Globe News building. Owner Madeline Fisher lives in Wisconsin and saw a need for a studio on the Superior side of the bridge. “It just seemed like a market that we didn’t have here in Superior. So it’s been really exciting to see all the people who haven’t done yoga in like 20 years because they haven’t had the opportunity,” she said.
