    I watched the Inauguration. I said it. I chose to because whether I voted for him or not he is now our President. I don’t want chaos so I am going to think positively. Four years will seem like a lifetime to me and there will be others too. The country is divided. So, as an American I can be silent and sit these four years out or I can work to make them better. I chose the latter. Because that is what we do in America.

    As I thought about what to write about one of my local heroes, that song kept going through my head. Keith Stayton was an average sized man with a giant size zest for life, his wife, and his communities (both here and in Tennessee), and his friends. They called he and his group the Fab 8. It consisted of: Keith and Rita Stayton; John and Theresa Perkins; Diane and Mack Kircher; and Tom and Sandy Kimmel.

    "A Christmas Carol" is a timeless tale that is beautifully staged and presented at Clarksville Little Theatre beginning Thursday through Dec. 15. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.The stage is full of music, beautifully set in Scrooge’s world, costumes swirl, and the children are amazing. Tiny Tim, played by Jake Bower, Will Weatherby, and finally Richard Ryan is endearing and sets the stage for Scrooge’s redemption with a skill not mastered by many.

    Thanksgiving is almost here. It is one of my favorites (if not the favorite) holidays. In my family it was always a time when we made a point of sharing dinner with the whole family. That means a lot because my mom was one of twelve and my dad was one of eleven. If you are from Eastern Kentucky then you assemble and share for the holidays. And so, we have. Then, I married into a family that was similar in custom.

    Well, last Tuesday happened. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I will, however, survive. “This to shall pass” is one of my favorite phrases. It is not in my nature to be negative and I have to search to find the positive in the decision we made as Americans, but I will find it. The majority of those who voted won. There in lies the rub. Many want to blame somebody but the fact is the Democratic Party did not get the vote out the way it needed to.
