    A new standard test for forklift drivers has been released by the UK Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport (ABA), to ensure the process is more inclusive. The test, which will become compulsory on 1 March 2025, replaces the five questions requiring a written answer with multiple choice questions, testing “knowledge and competence rather than their written skills”.

    There’s a bold call in this week’s news: forklifts are redundant in the warehouse environment. An American startup claims its technology will replace the “complexity” of forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors, elevators and other automation in warehouses. It will be interesting to see whether or not the market agrees. Obviously the death knell of forklifts and other materials handling equipment won’t be tolling anytime soon, especially considering the wariness of many to put 100% trust in software.
