Gamers of all ages gathered at the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown L.A. from January 10-12, 2025. The event offered a number of free to play retro arcade games, vendors selling physical video games, consoles, memorabilia, and voice actors were in attendance offering autographs and selfies. The Megabyte National Gaming Expo was a great respite from the wildfires burning in the Palisades, Eaton, Hollywood, and Hurst. The event was worth the $40-$50 ticket.

The Oddities & Curiosities Expo took place at the Cal Expo Pavillion in Sacramento, CA from 10/26 to 10/27 and did not disappoint. My first Comic Con experience did not disappoint. Day 1:On Friday, 10/4 we picked up our press badges and explored both the south and west halls.

As a fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation, I really enjoyed Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. This book was recommended to me by my previous manager and I can see why this was a popular hit. If you’re looking for escapism, this is a great read and the audio book is immersive.
