The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has announced the cancellation of the planned Sallah durbar activities by the Emirate. Sanusi made the announcement while addressing newsmen at the Kofar Kudu palace. The monarch said the cancellation followed his meetings with the Kano State Government, which showed him a lot of evidence of nefarious plans to use his movement to create tension in the state.

Tragedy on Saturday struck as 20 members of the Kano contingent died in a fatal auto crash while returning from the just concluded National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State. It was gathered that the vehicle conveying the contingents was involved in the crash in Dakatsalle town, 50 kilometres into the ancient city of Kano. The Chairman of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Kano State chapter, Zahraddeen Saleh, confirmed the incident.

No fewer than 127 foreign nationals have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Kano State for alleged involvement in different cybercrimes and irregular migration. The State Comptroller of Immigration, Kabir Danja, while giving a breakdown, said of the 127 foreign nationals arrested, 86 were Nigeriens, and the remaining 41 were Chadians. Danja also said his officers arrested 80 other Nigerians equally.

Kano — The Federal Government through Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, CREDICORP, has kick started a cultural reorientation campaign in Kano to sensitize Nigerians on window opportunities to collect credits in order to move them out of poverty circle and better their lives. Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Uzoma Nwagba, said the campaign is to change the mindset and perceptions of Nigerians against collecting credits.

Kano — The Kano State Censorship Board has suspended the streaming or airing of 22 Hausa Film Series for violating the Board's guidelines, which require all films to be censored before public release. The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Abba El-Mustapha, gave the directive on Monday following a management meeting and due consultations.
