Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, Thursday, said he had taken the eleventh-hour decision to suspend all activities relating to the forthcoming Eid el- Fitri Sallah festivities to avoid unnecessary bloodshed. Addressing the people of Kano on the controversy generated by the earlier decision taken by Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi 11, to conduct similar activities, Bayero said he respects the wise counsel of some revered elders in Kano who advised him to put on hold all planned activities.

The Kano state governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced the allocation of plots of land to each Kwankwasiyya marshal in recognition of their exceptional support for his administration before, during, and after the recent elections. This announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary and Governor’s Deputy Spokesman, Mustapha Muhammad, following an Iftar (breaking of the fast) event with the marshals at the Government House, Kano, on Tuesday.

The Kano state office of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has resettled 921 beneficiaries who were trained on various skills acquisition programmes as part of efforts to create employment opportunities. Speaking at the resettlement of the beneficiaries held in Kano, Tuesday, the Director General, National Directorate of Employment, Mr Silas Agara, said the directorate was designed to create employment opportunities and support the establishment of small scale enterprises.
