The Berkeley Daily Planet has learned that UC Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ has cancelled two scheduled Monday appearances at social clubs in the city of Berkeley. She was scheduled to speak tomorrow afternoon at the Town and Gown Club, a long-time city institution founded in 1898 to bring local and Cal-affiliated women together, though current members are more likely to be “bridge and tunnel” suburbanites.

Why is there no new planet? Perhaps you have been wondering why the planet’s not publishing this week? The short answer is that I broke my ankle in three places and have been in bed ever since it was operated on at Kaiser. I can’t stand on it for 3 to 6 weeks.and it’s too hard to type from bed.
