TOPEKA (KSNT) – KSNT Stormtrack Meteorologist Becky Taylor is saying goodbye Thursday as she moves on from KSNT 27 News. May 2 is the last day for Taylor who has helped track weather in northeast Kansas since July 2019. She first joined the KSNT family in 2015 before taking a leave of absence to raise her two daughters. Taylor is leaving her position at KSNT to spend more time with her family and on her farm.

Scattered showers and storms continue periodically through the day Thursday. These showers and storms will start to move east of the area by Thursday evening into Thursday night. The good news is that we’re not expecting severe weather today, but we could still see some heavy downpours and frequent lightning, especially this morning. A cold front sweeps through today switching our winds to the north for a little while and cooling our temperatures a bit.

We’ll have a, nearly, stationary front draped across the area today, and that may be the focus for some showers and storms to develop later this morning. While those are not expected to become severe, there may be some hail embedded in the strongest cells. More storms are expected to develop to our west and move eastward later this afternoon and evening. Some of those storms, at times, could become strong or even severe.

For today, we will see highs climb into the lower to middle 80s with the help of a breezy south wind gusting over 30mph at times. That will send dew points in the lower to middle 60s, as well. This fuels another chance for thunderstorms starting with a front moving through late Tuesday afternoon and evening. Additional storm chances are expected Wednesday and Thursday as another upper level system moves through. Some of the storms, at times, could become strong or even severe.
