    Last week, I was part of a roundtable event at the Department for Health and Social Care, representing the RCN alongside our General Secretary and Chief Executive, Nicola Ranger.  I see it as an important part of my role as RCN President to be representing members’ voices at events like these, where the experiences of nursing staff need to be heard.

    I want to start by saying that it is a true honour to be elected RCN President and I want to thank everyone who believed in me. I trust in the power of the collective strength of nursing professionals and together we can make the nursing profession more valued and respected.  In my role as a nurse working in critical care, every day I see and hear the personal struggles of our nursing staff and see the value of our pay being eroded.

    What began as a conflict between Israel and Hamas, the fifth since 2008, has now snowballed into a regional conflict, involving Iran and its proxies, occurring on multiple fronts.
