The U.S. President’s Emergency Relief Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, is possibly the single most successful policy to date in U.S.-Africa relations. It is one also one of the most successful foreign policy programs in U.S. history. Yet very few people have heard of it, and its future funding is currently on shaky ground in the current U.S. political climate.

AbstractUsing data from the largest online job portal in Nigeria, we document: (a) gender differences in salary offers for jobs, and (b) the response of (a) to recessions. Jobs in industries, where the number of job applicants skews female, offer lower starting salaries than jobs in industries where applicants skew male.
