Mortgage wars are heating up between the major banks, with Commonwealth Bank cutting its latest home loan offering. Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has cut its variable interest rate as mortgage wars between the major banks heat up ahead of a predicted Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) cash rate cut later this month. Australia's largest lender will cut its lowest variable rate down to a "competitive" 5.84 per cent.

ATOAustralians are being warned they could face criminal persecution as the ATO is hunts down tax cheats. They have been cautioned not to get involved in dodgy “schemes to cheat the tax and super systems”. This comes after the Serious Financial Crimes Taskforce (SFCT) observed a rise in “high value” fraudulent activity. Deputy Commissioner and SFCT Chief John Ford said sophisticated systems would catch offenders out.
