Mumbai: For the first time in living memory, Mumbai police and BMC strictly enforced a court ruling over the ban on plaster of paris (PoP) idols by denying permission for visarjan to Ganpati mandals. Bombay HC had on Jan 30 passed an interim order saying that no PoP idols should be manufactured, sold or immersed in any water body—even in artificial tanks built exclusively for visarjan.
