The Oriskany baseball team — ranked No. 1 in Class D in the latest state poll — has been rolling this season. The Skyhawks pushed a win streak to eight games with another lopsided win, using a nine-run first inning to top Poland 13-0 in five innings of the Center State Conference Division II contest Saturday morning at Oriskany High School. Oriskany (8-1 overall) had back-to-back shutout wins entering Monday's contest against visiting Cooperstown.

Following the Utica Comets' rollercoaster 2024-25 season, there's more change to the team. On Friday, that alteration came in the form of the parent club New Jersey Devils announcing the assistant coach David Cunniff will not have his contract renewed. He was among four coaches in the organization that the Devils noted will not remain in the organization going forward.
